Meet the Pacers at the expo Thursday and Friday

Our pace team will be attending the expo on Thursday June 21st and Friday June 22nd.  We will have a meet and greet area at the expo, where you can meet the pacers, and ask questions.  Pacers will be available at various times throughout the expo.  Please view our pacer expo schedule, and stop by to visit your pacer.  Look for our booth and pacers wearing the bright green shirts.

Age: 31
Hometown: I grew up in Marinette, WI, though I have lived in Kenosha for 10 years
Running Experience: I was in middle school track but in high school and college, I was a swimmer. I got back into running in college in the summer to cross-train for swimming. In 2008, I completed my first triathalon. After that I figured, if I can do a triathalon, I can do a half-marathon. Then I thought, if I can do a half, I can do a full.  I've been addicted ever since. I'll do any distance up to 26.2.
Favorite race: I love the Chicago Marathon because of the atmosphere. I also love the Danskin Triathalon series- very fun and inspirational.

Marianne Streit
Age: 35
Hometown: Brookfield, WI
Running Experience: I started running in 2004 because my sister-in-law (who lives in Boston) wanted to train for a race, so I said I would train with her. Needless to say, we didn't run together once (again, she lives in Boston), but I found some great friends through my quest to find someone to pull me along on the long runs. I have since run many races- some put on by my friends and me since we're cost-conscious individuals and just look for an excuse to get together. My training runs are my weekly times with my girlfriends and are what keep me sane and pleasant to be around.
Favorite race: Lakefront Marathon.
Memorable running moment: Lakefront Marathon 2011- I ran it alone (which is a first as I always run with people), and I hit my goal time. When I crossed the finish line I had spent everything I had in me, and seeing my husband and his proud face = awesome.
Favorite Running shoe: Saucony Hurricane.
Why you chose to be a pacer: I remember all too well those first races and how nervous I was and how badly I wanted to do well. I am excited to help other people accomplish their goal, whether it's their first race or their first time striving for a goal time.
Favorite color: Blue.
Favorite food: Chocolate and candy- it's why I have to run.
Favorite band: I don't know that I can just choose one. I guess I like classic rock and folk-type music the best.
Interesting fact about me: I can blow bubbles off my tongue.

2:10 PACE TEAM

Matt Jacobson
Age: 29
Hometown: Wauwatosa, WI
Running Experience:  I've been running since 6th grade, competing in cross country and track throughout highschool and college. Now I run a variety of distances, all the way from 5k's to ultra-marathons, and try to involve friends whenever possible. This year I plan to complete my first 50-mile race, run 2000 total miles and keep trying for that elusive Boston Qualifying time.
Favorite race: The Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon will always be a special race to me. It was my first marathon, a wonderful race with incredible spectator support and a great route along the lake.
Memorable running moment: It's a tie between my first marathon in 2009 and my school record 8k in cross country at MSOE, way back in 2002. Two different accomplishments at different phases in my life.
Favorite Running shoe: I like the Saucony Jazz, but I think they're discontinuing it, so the Brooks Ghost will take its place.
Why you chose to be a pacer: I was drawn to pacing because of a desire to help others hit their running goals, instead of the race being about how well I do.
Favorite color: Blue. Boring, right? Ok, red then.
Favorite food: I could eat Chipotle burritos every day of my life and never get sick of them. Yum.
Favorite band: My tastes change every five seconds, so I don't have a current favorite. My all-time favorite is probably Blink-182 or Green Day because I've seen them in concert a number of times.
Interesting fact about me: I'm a huge sports fan outside of running. I'm from Minnesota, so I'm a diehard Vikings, Twins, and Timberwolves fan (it's been a rough last two decades). I also play a bunch of obscure sports for fun - disc golf, ultimate frisbee, racquetball, kickball...

Memorable running moment: Crossing the line of the North Face Endurance Challenge 50-mile last year. Amazing moment.
